Scope and Content

Four pages of correspondence on a single folded sheet of paper. It is written in a black ink and is addressed "Camp Starkweather, Lookout Mt. Tenn. April 22, 1864. Dear Friend Edgar" (Edgar Dick) and is signed "Philip F. Gery". He talks about all the people writing him and how his company is still receiving new recruits. He regrets that Edgar will never be able to "soldier" again because of his health and that his brother Asa has died. It sounds like he died in battle "for the cause of right".
