Scope and Content

Single sheet of paper, folded in half to create four pages of correspondence. The first page has a stamp along the top of a man riding a horse and "Camp Washburne, Milwaukee, 1862." It is addressed "Jan the 28, Dear friend Abba". It talks about the soldiers, one has a bad disease in his eyes, the "boys" want to go home but can't get a furlough until their captain gets more men to replace them. They thought they would be able to go home last week but can't for at least another month. Signed "yours most respectfully, H. F. Wauby". The last page is blank. There is a stamp in the top left corner of the first page that goes through to the top right corner of the last page (both stamps face each other in the middle of the unfolded sheet). It is of a rounded triangle with flourishes.
