Scope and Content

Single sheet of paper with writing on both sides in blue ink. The letter starts "Dec. 30th 1863, Burnside Barracks, Indianapolis, Ind. To His Excellency and Friend, Sir" and signed "Verry [sic] Respectifully [sic], Mr. George A. Durschie, Esq." It talks about how his company is guarding rebels in Indianapolis and he didn't write sooner because they were unsure when they would get marching orders. He offers to send a song called "the battle cry of freedom". There is a stamp in the top left corner of a large building in a circle and "West End Congress".
