Four pages of correspondence on a single sheet of paper folded in half. The last page (opposite first page of writing) is blank. The letter is addressed "Saying in Rifle Pile, Before Hanover Junction Va., Tuesday May 24th 1864, Friend Edgar" and is signed "I am as ever, John W. Dick, to E. Dick". The letter is written in pencil. There is a stamp in the top left corner of the first page that left an impression on the last page, top right corner (mirroring each other in the middle of the unfolded sheet). The stamp looks like a scroll with an arrow through the top wound portion of the scroll. The letter is about how the boys have been marching and making fortifications for the last 10 days so they are well but tired. It talks about how hot it is in VA and they are just waiting to be called to fight against Gen. Lee.Collection
