Scope and Content

Single sheet of paper folded in half to create four pages of correspondence. The first page has a stamp at the top in black ink that reads "Head Quarters, Department of the Missouri, St. Louis, Mo. August 13th 1863" and is addressed to "Mrs. Charlotte K." The letter is signed "From your old Schoolmate, L. M. Johnson. St. Louis, Mo. Mrs. Sharlotte Kuvil, Brothertown, In care of Gen Totten." Opposite the first page, written upside down, is "Mrs. Sharlotte Keevil". This is an ex-soldier or possibly a current soldier writing an old schoolmate out of the blue. It talks about where he moved to and how he is content and how the army made him be content anywhere.
