Black and white photograph (possibly reprint) of a woman sitting with her hands clasped in her lap. She is in front of a stone wall and possibly outside because the ground looks like grass. She is wearing a dark long-sleeved dress with frills around the neckline and a dark hat. The image does not go to the ends of the photograph, it gets cut off on the sides and is jagged around the bottom, which makes me think it is a reprint of another photo.
Written in pencil on the back "Mis Moses Stanton, called by the Brothertown Ind, 'She Witch'. They really believed she had supernatural power." Written in black ink beneath this "Gift of Milton Jones of New Holstein, 1934" and a 1 in a circle is closer to the bottom.
The back has pinkish coloring in spots and on the front near her left shoulder is a dark brown spot.Collection
