Single sheet of paper, folded in half to create four pages of correspondence. On the top of the first page is a stamp of a soldier holding an American flag and "Forward to Victory!" all in blue ink. The letter is addressed "St. Louis Mo camp Benton, March 19th /62. Dear Father and Mother". It talks about missing home, how there was a bad crash of cars with 10 men killed and 25 wounded. It talks about life in the camp with 17 men to a tent. There was a shoot off between guards and one is now in prison. It ends "I must close with my compliments and best wishes to the whole family and inquiring friends from your son E. Dick". Written in the corner above the blue stamp in pencil is "Was with Mrs. Boyd's Brother DN Halshead". There is also a pressed stamp in the top left corner of the first page that goes through to the last page (two stamps in the middle of the unfolded paper). Can't make it out other than it's a circle with flourishes around it.Collection
