Black and white photograph of a logging crew. There are two large piles of logs being pulled by horses. Two horses stand to the left with two men behind them. In the middle pulling one of the log piles are two horses and eight people sit/stand on top of the logs with two standing to the side. There is a man between the two log piles holding two horses by the reigns. There are four more horses in front of the second log pile with two men standing near them, one is holding a puppy, and three men standing on top of the log pile. There are in a wooded area.
The photograph is mounted on a cardboard matte backing. Written in black ink on the back "Logs on Evergreen River-1900. Menominee Indian Reservation. 5000ft of Pine to a load. Carl Hammer with skid team between the two loads. Sled-7ft between runners, 12 ft bunks."
Cardboard is badly stained and discolored. Multiple stains around photograph especially along bottom edge, possible water damage. The photograph is also poorly developed.Collection
