Single sheet of paper folded in half to create four pages of correspondence. There is a stamp in the top left corner of the first page of a floral design with "O&H" below it. The letter is addressed "Springfield, Mo, August 28th 1862. Cousin Abba..." and signed "To Mifs A. L. Fowler. From L. M. Johnson. Please address as follows: Loren M. Johnson, Springfield, Mo. In care of Capt Woods. Comdg. Body Guard of Brig Gen. Brown. Please write soon". It talks about his health and the war.
