The oldest recorded correspondence in the collection it is a single sheet of paper. The paper has a blue hue to it and the ink is black. At the top it reads "Mohegan March 12, 1850. Dear Friend". It appears to be missing at least a second sheet because it abruptly ends on the back of the page.
