Four pages of a Farewell Address written on two sheets of connected, blue paper. There is an indented stamp in the top left corner of an "P&S" in a flourish. The first line reads "A Farewell Address to John Marygold, Master of the full rigger Brig Defeat. bound, for the, head waters of Sall River". It reads like a poem with numbered stanzas, each four lines long. There are 12 stanzas total and beneath the last one is a list of names (Fowler's, Dick's, and one Niles) with dollar amounts next to them and what has been paid already. Written in blue ink on the last page is "Brig Defeat".
The paper was folded in half twice to create three creases. It is discolored and stained mostly on the back page. But the stain bleeds through all the pages. The second page with writing has what could be water stains that have smudged the ink.Collection
