Description

Tintype of a young boy in a button up jacket with stripes. There is something wrapped around his right arm (left in image). The tintype is glued to a piece of paper pinkish in color with red lined borders. Above the tintype on the paper is "Samuel Niles" and below it "at the age of 11 years" in black ink. The back of the tintype is glued to a purple piece of construction paper. The tintype was in an envelope that reads "Samuel Niles, 2 pictures, #71". This is most likely O.E. Heller's organization system.

There are stains on the pink paper along each edge and the border around the tintype is worn. The purple construction paper is torn and the top right corner of the tintype is outside the purple paper.
