Beechtree, Bernice (Doxtator) Born 1930 Parents: Franklin Doxtator and Cora (Webster) Maternal Grandparent: Celinda Webster Don’t remember the other set of Grandparents or their names. They lived in Shipley, Wisconsin. Father worked for W.P.A. Father went to school at Haskell; don’t know how long he went to school. Parents both talked the Oneida language but never taught it. Mother, use to do a lot of canning before she got sick. Father played the Violin; he played at dances at White Eagles a few times. Father used home remedies. Use to go the Lutheran Church in Shipley. I started school at 6 years old in Shipley. Finish school in Oneida, when parents moved back to Oneida. We Lived on Salt Pork Ave. with Grandmother, when they moved back. Mother passed away and they moved from Grandmother’s house. Father met a woman and married her. Her name is Phoebe Cornelius. Got a job at St. Mary’s Hospital cleaning. Worked there for 12 years and then quite. Got a job at Salvation Army cleaning for 6 weeks? Got married the first time, and had one child. Now have 3 grandchildren. Second marriage was to Oliver Beechtree. Worked at Days Inn cleaning, quite there, and went back to work at the Salvation Army for 22 weeks. Husband worked at Larson’s and then went to Salvation Army for 10 years. He got sick and had to take early retirement. She still works at the Salvation Army, and helps disturbs food to people who are in need of food. Father was a Oneida Singer, he sang Bass. Husband started singing with the Oneida Singers, until he passed away. Every Wednesday morning she goes and plays Bingo. There’s a Senior Citizen Bus that picks up the people and takes them places. Grandchildren are learning the Oneida Language in school.Recording Type
