Her grandfather Wesley was a very hard worker and a very generous man. Her mother graduated from the Indian Government School and her father went to the same school. Her father went into the Army when he was 17 years old so she doesn’t think he graduated. Her parents spoke the language but never taught the children. Her grandmother was a home maker and did a lot of canning. Brucelyn went to the Oneida Mission School then did 1 year at Seymour and 1 year at Crystal Springs. She then went back to Seymour High School but ended up quitting at the age of 16. She went into the job corps and got her G.E.D. She lived in Ohio with her best friend’s family. She got married at a young age and it didn’t work out. She came back to Oneida to visit her mother and siblings. She learned how to cook from her grandmother and learned how to make fry bread, knuckle bread, and other things. Her mother lived in Milwaukee when she came back to visit. Brucelyn was married to Richard Cornelius in 1991. But it didn’t work out so they divorced again. She is now married to Tony Benson and works at the Main Casino in accounting. She’s been there for 13 years and hopes to finish working there until she retires.Recording Type
