His grandfather House was involved in Tribal Government. He was Chairman of the Oneida Tribe. His father was a logger and he also worked on a farm. He played violin and fiddle. His mother was a foster grandmother to the Oneida Head Start. Both of his parents spoke the Oneida language. His mother and father both had some pretty bad memories of the boarding schools they were in. His house had no running water or electricity. They used kerosene lamps and wood stoves. Christmas was a big and special day for them. They went to church and came back to a big dinner. His favorite foods his mother made were corn soup, ring bologna, and fried potatoes. In winter time they’d go sledding a lot and ice skating. In the summer they’d sum a lot. He went to school as far as the 8th grade. He’s married to Roberta and they have 4 children. Sam and Roberta got married on December 12, 1978. They lived in Milwaukee for a while then came back to Green Bay for a while. They then moved back to Milwaukee for his job. They have 4 grandchildren. He can’t play the fiddle or violin. He wishes he could jig like his sisters and Uncle George. He was never in the Military. His mother passed onto his wife how to make corn soup. Now he’s trying hardest to make corn soup.Recording Type
