She doesn’t remember her grandpa’s that well on either side. Her mother went to school in Carslile and graduated from Haskell, than her mother got a job when she came back to Oneida. Her father went to school up to a freshman in high school. He had to come home and take care of his parents because they were both quite old. She remembers the check for 52 cents.
Dorothy went to school at Pine Grove School until 8th grade then she went to West DePere High School. Her father spoke the Oneida language but her mother couldn’t. Dorothy worked in Chicago at a lawyer’s office for a while. Then she came back home and worked at Larsien’s Canning Company for a while. She went to college for nursing in 1954 and finished in 1957. She married a man by the name of Antone Danforth. She’s worked for 20 years at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Milwaukee. She has 4 children and 10 grandchildren. Her husband had a bar that he owned in Milwaukee. He owned that bar for 22 years. Dorothy worked a total of 43 years in a hospital as a registered nurse. Right now she’s on a board to help the elderly. They’re trying to build a building to help the elderly and trying to raise money to pay the taxes on their land and building.Recording Type
