Dixon, Eileen "Carol" (Hill)
Born 05/04/1945 in Milwaukee, WI
Parents: Roland Rayford Hill and Beatrice Marie (Silas) Hill
Maternal grandparents: Dewy Silas and Gertrude Jordan
Carol lived on a farm in Stevens Point with her grandparents. Her mother was killed in a car accident. The farm had electricity but no running water. She had to chop wood for heat and haul water from a well for drinking. Her grandparents spoke the Oneida language to each other.
She helped her grandfather on the farm. She was more of the tom-boy type.
Her father was a wielder on a ship during the war. He was hit in the head with a steel beam and he had seizures from it and became mean. Carol left her grandparents and moved to Milwaukee to live with her aunt. Her first job was a waitress. She stayed there for 5 years.
She met her husband Reginald Denny. They had 5 children. Now she has 10 grandchildren. Carol took in 3 foster children that are now living with her. She and her 1st husband got divorced. She joined the military in 1979. So, she had to give custody of her 5 children to her husband.
She learned what equal meant was and the uniforms they wore. Her job was to know what the equipment was and who the enemy was. She remained in the service for quite a few years.
Her oldest daughter lives in Anchorage Alaska, she won’t come back to Wisconsin. She lived in Denver and worked in the post office from 1984 until she met her second husband Larry Dixon. She moved back to Wisconsin in 1984. Now she is retired from the post office but her husband still works for the Green Bay post office.
She recommends that the youth today stay in school, don’t be lazy, get a job, and help others as you’d want them to help you.Recording Type
