Cooper, James Anthony Born 5/4/1932 Parents: Thaddeus Christjohn & Louise (Cooper); adopted I never knew my grandparents on my fathers or mothers side. I was raised by a Webster family, I called them my grandparents. Then I went to a foster home in Appleton... I was an Oneida Hymn Singer I sang at funerals and wakes. There were 6 women and 2 men in the group. We sang all over. When I was young I went to grade school at a Catholic School near Vandenberg’s, I went to 2nd grade. My grandfather died and his grandmother was too old to take care of me, so I stayed by my uncle’s house. He lived about a mile south of Masses Store on H. I stayed there with them until the war ended. When my uncle came home he only wanted his kids. Then some White people toke me to Appleton, Mr. & Mrs. C. C. Meyer, they were second largest bee keeper in Wisconsin. I stayed with them all the way through High School. Then I went in the service, when I was 18 years old. I was in the Air Force. When I got out of the Air Force, I went to Milwaukee to be with some Indians, but I couldn’t adjust. So I went back to the Air Force. I was in the Service for about 15 years. I got out of the service and got married to Alfredo Young. We lived tighter for about 4 years. Then we got a divorce, but we got back together, bought a house and we’ve been together ever since. We never got remarried. She was a teacher at Elm Street School. She helps out at the elderly. She’s a Potawatomi Indian. After I got out of the service I got a job at Him Amax as a Machinist. I retired in May 1962. I never had any Children, but one stepson. When I was young I played base ball a lot. Advice to the young treats your parent right and stay in school, graduate.Recording Type
