Her father was a lumberjack. He was also in the Army during World War I. Her father was in a boarding school in Tomah before he was in the Army. He learned most of his schooling in the service. Both of her parents spoke the Oneida language but never taught it to the children. Her mother went to school in Tomah and was just 15 years old when she got married. Her parents are Lutheran. There is 12 children in her family. Her father helped with the wash. Her favorite dish was homemade bread and biscuits with butter. They used sling shots and not guns. Her father made the sling shots for the children. Her mother was a stay at home mother. And a typical Sunday for her family was everyone going to church then coming home for dinner. She went to school in Bowler. Her father passed away in 1956 and that’s when she decided not to go to school anymore. They moved back to Oneida with her mother. Lorna worked at Larsen’s Food and got married to John Christjohn. They have 4 sons and 8 grandchildren. She worked on and off. She went to school in Stevens Point. She only went there until her granddaughter was born. She had come back to Oneida and that when she got her granddaughter whom she is raising. She now works with elders. Her husband has passed away so she raises her children and grandchild alone.
