Description

Green, Lou Anne (Summers) Born 09/18/1942 in Tomah, Wisconsin Parents: Mildred (Elm) Summers and Milton Summers (mother orphaned, might be a Metoxen) Paternal Grandparents: Elizabeth Summers and Taylor Summers She doesn’t know her mother’s side of the family. Her mother was placed in an orphanage when her own mother passed away. Her mother was 16 years old when she got married. Her father use to talk about the New York claim. They went to church every Sunday. She went to school at Silver Summit School than went to Seymour High School in Seymour. She didn’t graduate from school but got a call telling her she was still able to graduate with her class. So, she did end up graduating. After graduation she went to Milwaukee and got a job. She worked as a mail carrier for a while. Then she moved back to Green Bay and Oneida. She then met and married Jim Green. They have 3 children together and 3 grandchildren. She got married to him at the age of 23. She has one granddaughter who has some medical handicap and is only 13 years old. Her parents did a lot of their shopping at Schroder’s Market in Oneida. She got married by the Justice of Peace at the Green Bay Court House. She had surgery done on her right kidney. It was removed so she had a kidney transplant. She was on dualists since 1979. She now collects social security disability each month. She is now divorced from her husband. She tried to make baskets but it was too hard for her hands. Her father didn’t want his children to learn any of the Oneida ways because he was beaten for it if he spoke the language or did any of his beliefs and he didn’t want any of his children to go through that. She just recently joined with the Oneida singers. She sees a lot of young kids today giving up their children to their parents to take care of them and they have no respect or responsibilities. She’s a loner and she likes being by herself.
