Her mother went to the 5th grade at a government school. She doesn’t know where her father went to school. Her father and brothers went hunting and deer hunting in November. Her mother cooked on a wood stove, even in the summer. They use to pick beans, cucumbers, and cherries. Marilyn went to school at the Oneida mission until 8th grade and from there she went to school in Seymour. After high school she worked at Larson’s and after all her children was born and gone off to school she went back to work. She was married to Leander Danforth. He was a construction worker and they had 5 children together. She got married on May 21, 1955 at the Holy Apostle’s Church in Oneida. She lived to cook big meals for holidays and about 10 big pies. Her mother was beaten for speaking the language so she never taught her children the Oneida language. Marilyn has 29 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. The names of her brothers and sister are Jane the first born, but she died at birth, then there was Cliff, Don, Roomie, Carissa, then Marilyn, Rachel Allen, Vic, Ruthie Gloria and Pat. Her chores were dishes and stuff you normally do and father and brothers use to go deer hunting in November, then Rachel and I were in charge of the milking before they went to school. No running water or electricity had to haul water. Mother always cooked on wood stove even in the summer, like baking 5 loaves a day and always had goodie. Sundays they would have a big Chicken Dinner. Father was the coach of a baseball team and sometimes he’d bring the whole team home after a game to eat, they loved it, because she was such a good cook. For the young please exercise and watch what you eat, stay healthy
