She was married to Nelson Ninham for 61 years. They had 12 children. When I was a little girl, they lived in Wittenberg, Tigerton and Shepley. The was about 3 years old when they mover to Oneida. Her father got a woodcutting job up north so they moved back up north. Her father was beaten and kills on his way home. A milkman found his body in a ditch the next morning. She went to school in Flandreau, South Dakota. However, her dad did not go to school at all. I went to school in Tomah when she was 6 years old. I used to like to ride the train. I used to help my mother and grandmother with some of their chores. Her grandfather had a farm with Horses, cows, pigs, and chickens. They lived about 8 miles from my grandparents. Later I went to the Oneida Mission School. In addition, she used to go to Wittenberg School. Then she went to Red Spring’s School in Gresham. My grandmother taught me to make corn soup, but she did not teach me how to make corn bread. My grandmother passed away, before she could teach me.
On Christmas Eve, they went to Midnight Mass. They went in her grandfathers’ horse and sled. They went Hoyoning on New Years Day. On Easter, they went to church and after church; they went home and had a Easter egg hunt then they at their Easter dinner. She did not workout until her children got a little bigger, then she started to go out to work. She did a lot of house cleaning. She retired, but she worked at the Norbert Hill Center and at the Turtle School.
Her advice to the youth is to stay in school get good education.Recording Type
