She doesn’t remember much about her grandparents. Her father worked in the logging business during the winter. In the spring he’d work in the cranberry marsh. Her mother use to make a lot of corn soup and cornbread. She doesn’t know where her parents went to school but that both her parents spoke the Oneida language. She went to the Methodist Church. Her mother use to sew. Rose sewed and made things for her children but now her fingers are to nibble for her to hold the needle. Her mother got sick and passed away so the kids scattered all over with relatives. She went to a boarding school in Gresham and only went as far as 8th grade. She got married to Lester Skenandore. They had 15 children but 3 passed away. Her husband worked for a cement company. She use to make quilts until she had to stop sewing. She moved to Oneida in March of 98.
