Description

Reed, Theresa May Born 12/05/1935 Parents: Vincent Edward Reed and Christine Katherine (Wheelock) Reed Paternal Grandparents: Eliza (Jordan) Reed and Joe Reed Maternal Grandparent: Kiser Wheelock Her parents went to the Holy Apostle’s Church. Her father worked at Strid Grain and on the boats. All the kids were in school before their mother started to work. She worked doing house cleaning. She went to school for a while then had to quit. She married James Doxtator. Her parents would speak Oneida so the kids didn’t know what they were saying. The government forced her mother to have surgery done so she couldn’t have any more children. She was forced to have it or lose her children. Theresa has 2 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She doesn’t use the Health Center here. She goes to the doctors outside of the community. She uses the dentist in Bowler Wisconsin. Her Christmas with in-laws was different. She never saw a Christmas like that. She was 16 years old when she left home. She did not have a very good childhood. They had no running water or electricity and her father would drink then come home and beat her up. That’s when she left home. When her family was able to go to stores they went to Schroder’s and Morgan’s. She became a born again Christian. She goes to church in Green Bay over on Third Ave.
