Three sheets of paper with six pages of hand written by-laws in pencil. Each sheet of paper is numbered at the top (1, 2, 3) but the backs of each sheet are not numbered. The first page starts "To the W.G. T. Officer and Member of the Brothertown Temple of Honor No. 166. Your Committee on 'By Laws' would -- -- to report the following code of by laws for your consideration." The rest of the document lists 5 pages of by laws for consideration and is signed on the bottom of page "3" (fifth page of writing) "Dated Dec 26th Submitted in T.L.O and F. 1877" and signed by Ed M. Dick, John Niles, and J.D. Fowler.
BC2010.022.731B is the yellow envelope that was with the three sheets of paper. The envelope is addressed to Edgar M. Dick, Brothertown and is from Clerk of Court for Calumet County, Chilton, Wisconsin. There is writing in blue ink across the envelope that reads "Ellen Johnson, Harley Johnson mother/Millard Johnson, Doern Derdrick, contract, original copy of By Laws of Temple Honor". It appears it had multiple items held in it and was separated from the others and placed with this one by someone.Collection
