Scope and Content

Four page correspondence on a single sheet of folded paper. Most of the letter is written in uncial (block letters, or non-cursive). The letter has a poem at the top called "Meditating". It is addressed "Prospect Hill Jan. the 8th 1865, Absent Friend, Abba". The first letter ends on the second page and just talks about what's going on around town. The second letter starts "Monday Jan. 9th 1865, Good Evening Abba". It is a continuation because she wasn't feeling well, but doesn't feel much better the next day. The second letter talks about what she got for Christmas and the fourth page changes from the blocked letters to cursive. Unsure who wrote this, it looks like just initials at the very bottom of the last page "V. C." perhaps. Could be male too.
