Four page correspondence on a single sheet of folded, lined paper. The letter is addressed "Colby, Jan 6th, 1900, Dear Sister" and is signed on page four (opposite page one) "So good day with love to Laurie, PJ Johnson". The letter talks about her poor health, Hattie going to school, a party with lots of toys, a duck that was going to be eaten for Christmas but the little boy cried and wanted to keep it as a pet, and hopes for a letter in return. BC2010.022.618B is the envelope that is addressed to "Mrs Agnes L. Fowler, Brothertown, Calumet Co., Wis" with a single 2 cent stamp in the top right corner. Written on the back of the envelope in pencil and different penmanship is "Hattie's surprise party".
