This is an original audio recording of a presentation on the California-Nevada railroad by Louis Stein, founder of the Contra Costa Historical Society. The California-Nevada railroad connected Orinda to other East Bay cities (Emeryville, Oakland, Berkeley) from 1891 to 1904, and Stein was a noted historian on the subject of railways. Stein died in 1996 and several of his collected items were donated to historic societies and other organizations.
