This is an original audio recording of Elizabeth McKee, a staff member of CalTrans, about the history and construction of the Caldecott Tunnel, which opened in 1937 to connect the East Bay with Orinda and other communities in west Contra Costa County. She discusses boxes of materials that were found in storage rooms adjacent to the tunnel that dated from the 1930s on.
