Miguel deLaveaga & his wife Marie built Bien Venida estate in 1888 above Miner Road, not far from the present ninth fairway of the Orinda Country Club. H.M. Waterbury, the foreman of Wagner ranch, was contracted to build the original road leading to the estate. A fire destroyed the original home in 1915, but the home was duplicated and rebuilt the same year. This photo was taken in 1915 of the new structure.
