Enameled Filigree Card Case

Description

Silver filigree and enamel card case, rectangular in shape, in two pieces that fit one within the other. Square edged wire forms the structure of the box at edges and outside decorated inner panels on each face. Very fine twisted wire is them soldered in a complicated lacy network of many pattern creating the entire surface. More twisted wire is applied to outline several objects which are then filled with various colors of enamel. The same scene is created on both sides of the card case, two Asian figures, male and female, site under tree with bird flying overhead. The enamel is mostly green and blue with white on the people' faces, and red on the woman's hair and the bird's eye. A graceful border of enameled leaves surrounds the scene. Tiny (1 1/2cm) plate on one end is apparently for monogram. For carrying calling cards.
