Oval portrait on Ivory of a lady in gold colored metal case with glass crystal. Delicately painted bust of young woman with hair done back and it loops in the front of the ears. Three black ribbons cross the top of her head and pass under bun. She wears a black gown with shirred front and gathered sleeves. A necklace that is painted orange (gold beads?) is looped once tightly around her neck and in two long loops down her front, one end passing into top of her dress at neck. The grain of ivory is visible on her throat and shoulder where it has been left creamy white. Metal case is done at back and covered with flower and leaf engraving. A hinged loop is at top center. Tiny rim of gold colored metal holds crystal in place over portrait. Crystal is slightly domed..
