Notes

This ink drawing depicts the Henry house at Red Hill in 1896. The house is seen following the additions to Patrick Henry's original home by John Henry (1796–1868) in 1832–33. When this drawing was completed, John's son, William Wirt Henry (1831–1900), owned Red Hill. The original of this line drawing was completed by B. Woodson in 1896. It was given to the Patrick Henry Memorial Foundation in March 1945, along with two other sketches by Woodson—one of Harrison Henry and one of Patrick Henry's grave. However, all three sketches have since been lost, and only copies of Harrison Henry (77.108) and the house exist today. This photographic print of the original drawing was given to the Patrick Henry Memorial Foundation by Stanhope Johnson in 1960.
