Notes
This photograph was taken of three members of the Courtney family in the mid-to-late 1940s. Left to right: Samuel Courtney (father of Sandra Garrett), Barbara Collins (niece of Sandra's and niece to Samuel), Gene Price (father of Barbara and brother-in-law to Samuel).
The law office, which formerly served as a caretaker's cottage, was home to Lucy Gray Henry Harrison (1857–1944), great-granddaughter of Patrick Henry, after the Red Hill mansion burned in February 1919. After her death, the building was rented out to members of the public until it was restored by PHMF in 1961. The Courtney family lived in the office when this photo was taken. Barbara Collins and Gene Price were photographed while visiting Red Hill from out of state.
The photograph was included with a collection of photos of Red Hill taken during the residency of Sandra Courtney Garrett (1944–living) and her family in the mid-to-late 1940s. PHMF purchased the photos from Garrett in July 2023.
