The PHMF Golden Anniversary Celebration was held on Thursday, October 27, 1994, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the foundation's establishment. The PHMF was incorporated on October 27, 1944. The event was held at the Jefferson Hotel in Richmond, Virginia. Lt. Gen. Thomas H. Miller (1923–2007) and his wife, Ida Mai Miller, were guests at the dinner. Gen. Miller was a United States Marine Corps Naval Aviator and test pilot. Miller saw active combat in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. Miller is known as the "Father of STOVL (short take-off and vertical landing) aviation in the USMC." Mrs. Miller is his wife. This photograph was found by staff in the existing files of Red Hill's collection and accessioned on May 30, 2024, due to its importance to the institutional history of PHMF.
