Color photograph. Rectangular. Shot portrait orientation. Dr. John R. Turner is pictured playing a black-and-white recorder. He wears a Scottish kilt, a brown belt with a gold medallion on the front, and a brown pouch around his waist. On the reverse, "5409" is written in blue ink in the top right corner. There is also a small label attached. On the reverse, at the bottom of the photo, there are also a few brown stains, but it does not bleed to the front.

The PHMF Golden Anniversary Celebration was held on Thursday, October 27, 1994, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Foundation's establishment. The PHMF was incorporated on October 27, 1944. The event was held at the Jefferson Hotel in Richmond, Virginia. Dr. John R. Turner also played the violin and the bagpipes for guests during this celebration. Staff found this photograph in the existing files of Red Hill's collection and accessioned it on May 30, 2024, due to its importance to PHMF's institutional history.
