Notes
The PHMF Golden Anniversary Celebration was held on Thursday, October 27, 1994, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Foundation's establishment. The PHMF was incorporated on October 27, 1944. The event was held at the Jefferson Hotel in Richmond, Virginia.
The three individuals standing in this photo are siblings. Carolyn M. Lusardi (1919–2009) was the current President of PHMF at the time of the event. She gave a "Recognition of Distinguished Guests" and shared "Remembrances of Fifty Years" (per the event program). She is the sister of Charles T. Moses Jr.
Charles T. Moses, Jr. (1922–2002) served as mayor of Appomattox from 1958 to 1960. He graduated from Virginia Military Institute in 1943 and served in the Army during World War II. His father, Charles T. Moses Sr., was president pro tempore of the Virginia Senate from 1956 to 1964. Moses Jr. was active in local history, serving as a charter member of the Appomattox Historical Society and a former trustee for the society's museum. His direct relation to Red Hill is that he served as a member of the advisory board of the Patrick Henry Boys' and Girls' Plantation. His sisters are Carolyn Moses Lusardi and Virginia Babcock (1920–2010). His wife's name was Ruby Martin Moses.
Virginia Babcock was also a Patrick Henry Memorial Foundation Auxiliary member and an organizing member of the Red Hill Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Staff found this photograph in the existing files of Red Hill's collection and accessioned it on May 30, 2024, due to its importance to PHMF's institutional history.
