Charles T. Moses Jr. (1922–2002) served as mayor of Appomattox from 1958 to 1960. He graduated from Virginia Military Institute in 1943 and served in the Army during World War II. His father, Charles T. Moses Sr., was president pro tempore of the Virginia Senate from 1956 to 1964. Moses Jr. was active in local history, serving as a charter member of the Appomattox Historical Society and a former trustee for the society's museum.
