Description

Color photograph. Rectangular. Shot landscape orientation. Pictured are eight individuals seated at a round table. There is a large floral arrangement centerpiece on the table. All guests are facing the camera. Table 20 can be seen in the background. On the reverse, "5525" is written in blue ink in the bottom right corner. The reverse also includes a small label that lists in handwritten cursive the names of all the individuals in the photo. The names are not written in any sort of discernible order, meaning not all the guests in the photo can be identified. Patrick Daily is the gentleman directly in the foreground, pictured right in front of the table's centerpiece. The second name on the fourth line of the label, which reads "Caroline Reveley" appears to be written with a thin black marker, unlike the other names, which are written in thin black pen ink. This suggests the name was added after the original label was created.

The PHMF Golden Anniversary Celebration was held on Thursday, October 27, 1994, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Foundation's establishment. The PHMF was incorporated on October 27, 1944. The event was held at the Jefferson Hotel in Richmond, Virginia. Donald "Don" B. Creath was an active trustee of the PHMF during this event. Mrs. Marie Reveley (1919–2006) was an honorary trustee of the PHMF at the time of this event. Patrick Daily authored "Patrick Henry: The Last Years, 1789-1799," published by the PHMF and sold in the Red Hill Visitor Center gift shop. Daily served as the museum director (Executive Vice President) of Red Hill from 1977 to 1988. During his tenure as director in 1986, Congress designated Red Hill as the National Memorial to Patrick Henry. He was also a founder and acting administrator of the Descendants' Branch of the PHMF. He has also given numerous lectures and presentations about Patrick Henry's life. Staff found this photograph in the existing files of Red Hill's collection and accessioned it on May 30, 2024, due to its importance to PHMF's institutional history.
