Description

Color photograph. Rectangular. Shot landscape orientation. Pictured are six individuals seated at a round table. There is a large floral arrangement centerpiece on the table. A table sign displaying the number "20" can be seen above the centerpiece. All guests are smiling directly at the camera. On the reverse, "5526" is written in blue ink in the bottom right corner. The reverse also includes a small label that lists in handwritten cursive the names of all the individuals in the photo. Reverse labels of past photographs catalogued in this accession do not list individuals in sequential left to right order, meaning this photograph's label likely does not either. This means that not all of the guests in this photograph can be identified. Pat Atherholt is pictured on the farthest left, wearing a black floral formal dress. The reverse label also lists eight individuals at table twenty, but only six individuals are pictured. At the very bottom of the photograph, two empty seats can be seen.

The PHMF Golden Anniversary Celebration was held on Thursday, October 27, 1994, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Foundation's establishment. The PHMF was incorporated on October 27, 1944. The event was held at the Jefferson Hotel in Richmond, Virginia. Patricia "Pat" Atherholt (1933–2023) was a guest at the dinner. She served as the Director of the St. John’s Church Foundation, the non-profit organization that oversees the historical interpretation and preservation of St. John's Church. On March 23, 1775, St. John's Church was where Patrick Henry delivered his "Give Me Liberty" speech. Mrs. Atherholt died on April 20, 2023, and is buried at St. John's Church. Staff found this photograph in the existing files of Red Hill's collection and accessioned it on May 30, 2024, due to its importance to PHMF's institutional history.
