Provenance

Notes

This lock of hair came from Patrick Henry's widow, Dorothea Dandridge Henry (1757-1831) who married Judge Edmund Winston after Henry's death. She cut off this piece of her hair near to her death to preserve it for her children. At a later date it came into the possession of Margaret Henry Dabney Penick (1853-1923), a great-great-granddaughter of Patrick Henry. Mrs. Penick donated the hair with its accompanying note to the Patrick Henry Memorial Foundation on April 4, 1952.
