Petition to court of Franklin County by John Campbell, claiming right to inherit property of James Fowler, who had left colony before he died. No date, but Franklin became a county in 1785. No signature, but written in the hand of Patrick Henry. Given to PHMF by Patrick Henry Fontaine (1869–1959), a great-grandson of Patrick Henry, in 1950. Fontaine is descended from Henry and Sarah Shelton's oldest daughter, Martha Henry Fontaine (1755–1818), whose son is Col. Patrick Henry Fontaine (1775–1852), whose son is Edward Fontaine (1814–1884), whose son is the donor, Patrick Henry Fontaine.
