This pamphlet contains information for the Naval Reserve Officers training corps cruise that took place in 1940. The students attending this cruise would need to complete this course before receiving their commission in the Navy Reserve.

Context

The items in this collection were donated by Samuel Wingrove, a plank owner and Water Tender aboard the USS Laffey (DD-724) during World War II. Wingrove was present for both D-Day and the Battle of Okinawa. Wingrove would be promoted a Boiler Technician, go on to serve on a variety of Navy ships in the Korean War and retire as a US Navy Chief Petty Officer.
