A photograph of the portside of the USS Laffey (DD-724) taken from stern. After repairs from the Battle of Okinawa, visitors can be seen touring the ship and walking around the pier.

Context

After the USS Laffey (DD-724) survived bomb and kamikaze strikes off Okinawa on April 16, 1945, the ship sailed to Seattle, Washington for repairs. Once the stay in dry dock was complete, she returned to Pearl Harbor, where the Laffey was used to promote the war effort.
