Context

An Army nurse serving in the Pacific during World War II, Lt. Okie Pennington was in charge of a group of nurses being transported to Okinawa aboard the USS Yorktown (CV-10) being on May 16, 1945. As the only women aboard the aircraft carrier, they were put in the charge of Admiral Radford, who gave up his cabin for the group's use.
