A memorandum to Commander Frederick Julian Becton from Lieutenant Lloyd Weir, District Public Relation Officer, dated June 9, 1945. Lt. Weir expresses his appreciation for the "enthusiastic cooperation given by the Commanding Officer and Ship's Company of the USS Laffey in connection with the current labor recruitment drive". The memo goes further to specifically "thank and commend Lt. F.A. Manson, USNR, for his excellent assistance in the arranging of the press and magazine interviews and the radio shows".

From the Collection of Frank Manson. Lt. Frank Manson was a Communications Officer aboard the USS Laffey (DD-724) from 1944-1945, as well as the press liaison for Commander Becton during the ship's Shipyard Worker Retention Tour.
