Slide rule-based analog computer used by aviators during flight planning and in flight to calculate fuel burn, wind correction, time en route, ground speed and estimated time of arrival. Aluminum circular slide rule, plastic slider, and tan plastic carrying case.

Paul Dilgren used this flight computer to perform calculations in the course of performing his duties as a US Naval Airman.

Context

Paul Alario Dilgren was a US Naval World War II, Korean War era, and Vietnam War era pilot. He served on the USS Intrepid (CV-11), flying the Avenger and the S2 Tracker. Dilgren received Distinguished Flying Cross in 1944. Like many pilot assigned to specific ships, during World War II Paul Dilgren occasionally landed on the USS Yorktown (CV-10) during flight operations.
