This painting shows the USS Bainbridge (DLGN-25), USS Long Beach (CGN-9), and USS Enterprise (CVN-65) in formation together. These ships represented the next generation of the US Navy as all three vessels were nuclear-powered.

Context

Arthur Beaumont was a US Naval reservist and artist best known for his watercolor depictions of ships. James B. Cain was a World War II Navy Ace who served as the twenty-first captain of the USS Yorktown (CVS-10) from June 11, 1965 to May 7, 1966.
