From the Collection of Frank Manson. Lt. Frank Manson was a Communications Officer aboard the USS Laffey (DD-724) from 1944-1945, as well as the press liaison for Commander Becton during the ship's Shipyard Worker Retention Tour.
The photos were likely taken off a downed Japanese pilot pick up by the USS Laffey (DD-724) on November 11, 1944 east of the Philippines. Frank Manson was in charge of interrogating the pilot who was then transferred off to the USS Enterprise (CV-6) the next day.Collection
