'S2F Plane Captain's Handbook', 'Instructions for the Use of the Mark 7 Knee-Mounted Chart-Plotting Board', a pad of handwritten notations, and two pencils can be found within the storage compartment.

Context

John Georgeo served in the Pacific War theater of World War II as a US Navy pilot with the famed Torpedo Squadron Eight (VT-8). VT-8 flew off of the USS Yorktown's (CV-10) sister ships, the USS Hornet (CV-8), the USS Saratoga (CV-3), the USS Bunker Hill (CV-17), and the USS Intrepid (CV-11).
